Insurance
Insurance
Transport & Logistics Liability (Primary)
Covers Westlink's liability as a logistics operator across all transport modes (road, rail, sea, air) worldwide. Includes errors & omissions, third-party property damage & bodily injury, fines & duties, and tenants/fire legal liability.
Key: This is the primary operating policy — it responds to claims from delivery errors or third-party incidents. USA carrier operations excluded.
Transport & Logistics Liability (Excess)
Sits above the primary T&L policy and extends the total coverage limit. Responds once the primary TT Club policy limit is exhausted on a qualifying claim.
Key: Only triggered for large claims that exceed the primary layer. Same coverage scope as the primary policy.
Professional Indemnity
Covers Westlink's liability for claims arising from its professional services — logistics consulting, project management, inspection & reporting, transport engineering and management plans, lashing calculations, lift design, technical drawings, non-destructive testing, cargo surveys, supply base management, and duty advice. Responds to claims of negligence, error, or omission in the delivery of those services.
Key: Claims-made policy — notify the broker (CRE Insurance) of any circumstance that could give rise to a claim before the policy expires; late notification can void cover. Physical construction, fabrication, and manufacturing work is excluded — this covers advisory and design errors, not physical execution.
Management Liability
Protects directors, officers, and the company against claims arising from management decisions. Covers D&O liability, employment practices liability (wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment), statutory liability (fines & penalties), crime/fidelity, taxation audit costs, and forged transfer.
Key: Unlike standalone D&O insurance, this policy also extends cover to the entity itself — not just individual directors and officers.
Mobile Plant & Equipment
Covers physical damage to or loss of mobile plant and equipment, including hired-in plant. Responds to accidental damage, theft, fire, and storm damage to equipment used on project sites and in operations.
Key: Includes hired-in plant cover — critical for project sites where Westlink uses third-party equipment under hire agreements.
Business Package
Bundled property and general liability policy covering office contents, fire & perils, business interruption, and general/products liability for the Perth and Brisbane offices. Includes material damage to physical assets and consequential loss of income.
Key: This covers office-based risks — not project site or transport operations (those are covered by T&L and MPE policies).
Corporate Travel
Covers employees travelling for business — medical costs, repatriation, cancellation/curtailment, lost baggage and equipment, personal liability, and hire car excess. Includes emergency assistance services.
Key: Keep the Emergency Assistance Card accessible when travelling. Contact the assistance provider first for medical emergencies abroad — do not self-arrange repatriation.
WA Workers Compensation
Statutory workers compensation insurance for Western Australia. Covers all WA-based employees for work-related injuries and illnesses, including weekly payments, medical expenses, rehabilitation, and lump sum benefits as required under the Workers' Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981 (WA).
Key: All workplace injuries must be reported immediately. This is a statutory (compulsory) policy — coverage is unlimited subject to the Act.
QLD Workers Compensation
Statutory workers compensation for Queensland-based employees under the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 (QLD). Covers legal liability for compensation and damages for work-related injuries. Industry classification: 529211 (Freight Forwarding Services).
Key: Coverage is unlimited subject to the Act. Different renewal cycle to other policies (financial year aligned).
Cyber
Covers losses from cyber incidents including data breaches, ransomware, business email compromise, system outages, and regulatory investigations. Includes first-party costs (forensics, notification, business interruption) and third-party liabilities (claims for data loss, regulatory fines).
Key: Contact CFC's incident response team immediately on discovery of any suspected breach — do not attempt remediation before notifying the insurer, as this may void coverage for forensic costs.
Charterers Liability
Covers Westlink's liabilities as a charterer of vessels — equivalent to P&I Club cover tailored for charterers. Three classes: Class 1 (Charterers' P&I — hull damage, pollution, cargo, injury, fines; USD 50M limit), Class 2 (Defence — legal costs for CP/BL disputes; USD 1M limit), and War Risks (P&I liabilities from war, terrorism, mines; USD 50M limit).
Key: Never admit liability. Never sign B/Ls as carrier without authority. Deck cargo must be claused correctly. Excluded cargoes (explosives, DRI/HBI, acids, etc.) require pre-approval. Defence cargoes require a CSQ form approved by Underwriter.
